HTML clipboardThe biggest problems with Anxiety attack is its suddenness. It brings about a period of extreme anxiety, and gets you physiologically aroused, They happen quite abruptly, and may have no apparent triggers.

Even though these attacks seem rather sudden, they are not. Anxiety attacks are basically the flight or fight mechanism initiated by your brain. It is a Coping mechanism thats hard wired into our brain. This process releases huge amounts of adrenaline into your blood. Your Heart pumps up extra blood towards hands and feet to get you ready to deal with emergencies.
This kind of response was necessary for a caveman to make sure he can survive. Even today, this response may come in handy in live saving/threatening situations. Although this does not happen often to us now a days.

In today’s world, we buy into the idea of stress rather easily. Stress is just one small word everyone loves to toss around when they are unable to justify the unjustifiable wants and needs of today’s world. Panic attack is connected to the stress that you face in your life. Anxiety or Anxiety Attacks can easily be the most difficult period in your life.

A Panic attack may last anywhere from 15 seconds to thirty minutes. Cyclic Anxiety Attacks are the worst. while the simple Anxiety Attacks last a fewminutes, cyclic ones can last over a few hours. The worst part of having a panic attack however, is the anxiety you experience, the anxiety of not knowing when you may have the next one. The anticipation of the next attack has a devestating effect on people and together with the actual anxiety attack, a simple problem becomes a massive one.

Once these Anxiety attacks starts, the snowball effect follows immediately. the things you enjoy can turn into to the triggers for these attacks sometimes. It is similar to a hurricane, panic can easily create a huge problem in your day to day life.

One of the biggest mistakes you can do in treating a panic attack is to agree with your doctor to take medication to reduce these Anxiety Attacks.

Pay attention to the side effects listed for any of such prescribed drugs and you will know what I mean. You need to manage the actual panic attack and not the body’s natural response. Most of the drugs available in the market focus only on reducing your body’s natural response to these Anxiety Attacks. Why is this not good? Imagine that you are about to get mugged, but if you outrun your mugger, you are safe. This is one situation where you need to be able to run away, but thanks to the drugs your doctor gave you, you may not respond as you should.

So how do you treat such panic attacks?

Avoid too many stimulants in your diet. Having too much caffeine (Coffee) will add too many stimulants to your blood stream and then they keep looking for a way to get out. It’s like a rebel teenage kid trying to pick up a fight. So gradually reduce your coffee intake.

Involve your self in soem form of physical sports activity. Running, kickboxing, swimming and any other sport that will help you sweat out and release endorphins. It will get you into shape and has an added benefit of reducing your anxiety and stress levels.
