When Janice was in high school, she had established a reputation as a studious individual who rarely, if ever, “painted the town red” by drinking with her peers. She seemed almost obsessed about “standing out” academically so that she would be able to find a career that she not only benefited from but one that also gave her some security from a financial perspective.

After much reflection, in time she came to a decision that she wanted to be a trial lawyer. In order to reach this goal, nevertheless, she would first have to complete four years of undergrad education.

After Completing High School Janice Gets Accepted Into A Greatly Admired Undergrad University as Training For a Career as a Lawyer

After Janice completed high school, she applied to and was accepted into a prominent program in linguistics. Her rationale underlying this decision was that this subject area would be good preparation for law school and wouldn’t be identical to the preponderance of law school applicants who elect to choose political science as their undergraduate major.

After graduating with a 3.85 GPA at the undergraduate level, she applied to and was accepted at an outstanding law school at one of the Big Ten universities.

She was energized by her legal studies but occasionally she was inundated with all the work that had to be undertaken at law school. Reminiscent to the way she handled herself in her high school and undergraduate days, nevertheless, she made buddies quite easily but hardly ever took part in social events until the semester was done.

After Being Pleased That She Had Done Very Well on Her Finals, Janice Wanted to Take a Break and do Some Celebrating

Janice was the type of individual who worked relentlessly to complete what she was doing and then would take a break when she could. It just so happens, nonetheless, that virtually all of the things she did between school sessions or during summer breaks were unrelated to drinking. Clearly, Janice was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were completed and feeling overjoyed that she had done extremely well on her tests, nonetheless, she wanted to take a break and do some celebrating.

So Janice and a few of her pals went to a local tavern where they had a few drinks. As the hours flew by, Janice continued to drink without having to worry about tests or term papers the next day. In fact, Janice stated to her buddies how thrilled she was to have fun drinking with her law school pals.

As the evening proceeded, Janice and her buddies continued to drink. If truth be told, she was having such a superb time that she didn’t want the night to end. It was almost like she was making up for lost time and making an effort to compress a year’s worth of fun into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” however, infrequently works. If truth be told, when Janice went to the lady’s room and vomited, her buddies started to get anxious about her health.

Around twenty minutes later when Janice started to speak in a confused manner, slur her words, and then become unconscious, nevertheless, her classmates promptly knew that they needed to call the emergency number and ask for emergency assistance because they suspected that Janice was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

After the medical team pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were observable, Janice was transferred to the recovery room. After staying around six hours in recovery, Janice was then placed in one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the most crucial part of her hospitalization was over and all of her vital signs were once again in the normal range.

In response to Janice’s state of affairs, her classmates caringly telephoned her Mother and Father. Consequently, early the next day, her parents and her favorite pals went to the hospital to visit Janice and look into her medical condition.

Janice Comes Close to Dying, is Thankful to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Irresponsible Manner

Janice was attentive to the fact that she came an inch from losing her life and, as a result, was thankful to be alive. Her Mom and Dad realized how hard she worked at college and how little she let herself socialize with her friends. Nevertheless, they also knew that Janice needed to keep away from excessive drinking.

As a consequence, they recommended that in the future, whenever a drinking circumstance presents itself, that she always drink responsibly and in moderation. Janice was of the same opinion and promised her Mother and Father and her friends that she would never again drink in an irresponsible manner. As stated by Janice, “I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local university newspaper. I now know that irresponsible and hazardous drinking is not for me. I affirm that this will never happen again.”

Fortunately, Janice was not only “book smart” but she also possessed common sense. Stated differently, she immediately understood that she had made an error in judgment and made up her mind that she would never make the same error again. In fact, she now realized that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this form of hazardous drinking can end in a fatality.
