Create Adwords Ads In 2 Steps
Posted on April 9th, 2009. Filed under: Internet.Want to make money with PPC ads ? A Google pay per click adwords campaign is a two part operation.
1. First create a list of suitable keywords.
2. How to use them in your Google ads.
Research tools are easy to find, there is Google’s own, first class free tool and lots of paid ones.
Money short ? Then why not use the free tool, try to make money before spending it.
Enter the phrases your instinct tells you are relevant to your niche – ‘painting with watercolours’, ‘how to paint with watercolours’, watercolour painting tips’. The tool will come up with it’s suggestions, select as many as wish and add them to the list. Take as many from the list to start new searches with and keep repeating the process. If you accidentally put the same phrase into your list more than once, don’t be concerned the tool will sort it out.
The number of searches listed against the keywords will make you aware which are the top phrases in your niche. Open a new window and put these top phrases into a normal Google search. You need the website urls of the top four sites from both the unpaid and paid listings on the page. Now put those website addresses into the Google tool to get even more keywords.
Don’t be afraid to use the singular and plural versions of keywords, as well as misspellings, and your competitors url’s. You see surfers often put website addresses in the Google search bar. Remember, it’s all about how people, your prospective customers, actually search.
You will be beginning to see how your keyword list can grow. When you feel you can’t go any further put it in a text file where you will find it has been transformed into a neat and tidy alphabetical list.
Now for step two, create adwords ads.
Again, if you are on a tight budget, I would suggest using, to begin with, only a section of your keyword list, perhaps a hundred phrases, to use with your PPC ads.
The ads headline is the keyword phrase. The next two lines extol the benefits of whatever you are selling. Not how great, gorgeous or cutting edge it is but how it will directly benefit the prospective buyer.
For example, ‘learn scuba diving in a week !’, ‘Top scuba equipment, lowest prices’, ‘Join top scuba club free today !
Each ad group must have only one keyword in broad, “phrase” and [exact] form.
You may only start with a hundred or so keywords but can you imagine the work involved in doing the above ? If you really want to make money with a PPC campaign you will eventually turn to adwords software.
I long ago gave up the idea of manually creating adwords ads even in their dozens, let alone hundreds or thousands. The software I use takes your list of keywords and asks you to compile a couple of ads, it even puts in a headline, that you have previously compiled, where the keyword phrase is longer then the permitted maximum of 25 characters. Press the button – campaign created !
Adwords editor, which is a free tool, again supplied by Google takes your campaign and uploads it to the web.
I have campaigns that began with lists of thousands of keywords which, because of automation, I was able to get down to less than ten that made real money.
