Making the Most of a Telephone Interview

It is very important for anyone looking for employment to be prepared to partake in the phone interview process. There are lots of ways to impress a telephone interviewer. Before a phone interview, try to concentrate on what you are doing and clear your mind. It will portray your level of professionalism if you repeat and use your interviewer’s name throughout the conversation.

Be detailed in your time lines when asked. Straying from your time frame will make you seem dishonest and bewildered. If you prepare in advance, you will impress the interviewer. It is important to have documents pertaining to work and any certificates you may have nearby, should the interviewer ask for them.

You should keep a copy of the resume near the phone. This way, the information in the interviewer’s hand and your shared information will work as verification. Keeping a notepad handy also helps a lot.

You can also impress the interviewer during a telephonic interview if you know exactly what time the call is scheduled for, and you plan accordingly. You can turn off the ‘call waiting’ function of your phone service, and ensure that you keep yourself totally focused on the interview. You should also practice voice modulation and keep a glass of water close by to eliminate taking a ‘break’ during the call.

If you genuinely have a problem, do not be reluctant to take a number and call back time from the interviewer. This displays your organizational and prioritization skills. Make sure you come off as a good listener. Do not interrupt the other person and contemplate your answer before giving it.

If you are trying to are wanting to impress your interviewer, let your positivity shine through your voice. Be sure to speak concisely and deliberately. When providing contact information, be in depth and precise. Phone interviews can be very stressful. Using these tools will display your ineptitude and competency.
